Install Android 8.1 Oreo on Xperia Z2 Unofficial AICP 13.1 | Custom Firmware

Sony Xperia Z2 came out in February 2014. The phone initially came with Android 4.4.2 and later upgrade to Android 6.0 officially. Sony Xperia Z2 also known as “Sirius” have 5.2” display screen with 20Pm camera and 3GB RAM. Phone best known for its camera and better battery timing compare to other Sony smartphones. With Android Oreo 8.1 coming out many developers start developing custom ROM for Sony Xperia Z2. In this post we’ll guide you on how to Install Android 8.1 Oreo on Xperia Z2 Unofficial AICP 13.1.

Note: Before you start you should know difference between Custom ROM and Stock ROM. To install custom ROM, you need to unlock bootloader and you must flash latest TWRP Recovery.

AICP or “Android Ice Cold Project” started on Desire HD in 2012 and since then has evolved into mature ROM. Until Lollipop, AICP ROMs were based on AOKP (Android Open Kang Project). After Lollipop AICP changed their base to CM (CyanogenMod) which later re-brand to LAOS (LineageOS). ACIP latest stable release for Sony Xperia Z2 is version 13.1.

Prerequisites

  • Make full back of your device
  • AICP Sirius 13.1 Oreo – Click Here (Download Latest Build)
  • GApps – Click Here (Any for Android 8.1 Oreo)
  • Flash Latest TWRP – Click Here
  • Root Solution – Magisk-v16.0
  • Baseband Patch (only for Xperia Z2 D6502 users)
  • Keep your phone charged up to 50%.

How to Flash Android 8.1 Oreo on Xperia Z2 Unofficial AICP 13.1

Step 1: Download AICP Sirius 13.1 Oreo. Make sure you download latest build.

Step 2: Download latest GApps for Android Oreo 8.1. You can download any package you want depends on what Google Apps you need.

Step 3: Transfer the ROM and GApps on your phone SD card.

Step 4: Enter in recovery mode. For that Switch ON your phone by pressing and holding Volume UP and Volume DOWN buttons until you see LED light turn into any color. Make sure you have latest TWRP flashed on your phone.

Step 5: Once you’re in TWRP recovery, Wipe System, Data, Cache, ART/Dalvik Cache.

Step 6: Flash the ROM you just transferred to your phone.

Step 7: Flash GApps.

Step 8: Flash the root solution “Magisk-v16.0“. Make sure you only flash one root solution if you’re flashing Magisk then don’t flash SuperSU.

Only for D6502 Users: Flash Baseband Patch. This step is only for users with phone model D6502.

Step 9: Reboot your device.

That’s it now your Sony Xperia Z2 is upgraded to Android 8.1 Oreo. Device might take up to 5 minutes at first boot so please wait.
